Celine Dion (56) attended the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris? According to rumors, the Canadian singer is supposed to make her comeback there on the coming Friday (26. July). The French president Emmanuel Macron (46) would be delighted.
"I would be thrilled"
"Apparently she has arrived in Paris, that's great," Macron said in an interview with the French radio station France 2. Dion was photographed in Paris on Tuesday (23. July) after her arrival. "I would be thrilled if she could be there for the opening ceremony," Macron added.
Whether Dion will actually accompany the ceremonies musically, Macron would not confirm. "I won't reveal what [the leader of the opening ceremony] Thomas Pesquet and his teams have prepared," the French president said evasively. He promises, however: "There is a surprise."
Celine Dion or Lady Gaga?
Celine Dion has withdrawn from the public eye since her diagnosis of Stiff-Person Syndrome (a rare autoimmune neurological disease). Now it is being speculated that she will celebrate her spectacular comeback at the Olympia opening ceremony. Only recently, in promotional interviews for her documentary "I Am: Celine Dion," she confirmed that she wanted to perform again. Whether that will happen on Friday remains to be seen. In addition, Lady Gaga (38) could allegedly appear at the Olympia opening ceremony.
The Olympic Games in Paris begin on Friday, 26. July, with the solemn opening ceremony and end on Sunday, 11. August.
