Emma Roberts watches her aunt Julia's movies to combat loneliness

Emma Roberts, 33, has stated that she "never aimed" to be like her famous aunt Julia. However, Julia Roberts is "the Best" and a shared film project is in the works - once the right script is found.

Actress Emma Roberts regularly watches old films of her famous aunt Julia. The classic films of Julia Roberts are her "comfort films," the actress told in an interview. She enjoys watching movies like "Mystic Pizza" when she is alone. Moreover, she mentioned that she can easily imagine working on a film together.

In an interview with "Variety," published on July 5, the actress revealed, "I watch her films when I'm alone during filming. I've downloaded some of her films onto my computer that I watch for comfort." Among her favorites are "Mystic Pizza" and "America's Sweethearts."

Who knows, perhaps the aunt-niece duo will appear together in a film. "I'd love to find the perfect project for me and my aunt, and I know something great will come out of it," Emma Roberts said. However, nothing right has been found yet. "She's the Best, and I want to do something with her. We send each other books and talk about things, but it hasn't been the right thing."

"Space Cadet" in the Script

The 33-year-old is the daughter of Julia Roberts' older brother Eric. In earlier interviews, she openly spoke about her relationship with the famous actress - and emphasized that she felt no pressure to follow in her footsteps. She never "aimed" to be like her, Emma Roberts told "Tatler" in March 2022. "I love her so much, I love her work, but I'm just doing my own thing."

In her latest film "Space Cadet," Emma Roberts plays a party girl from Florida who becomes the only hope for a NASA space program. She is not afraid of criticism: "It's meant to be serious," she told "Variety" about the romantic comedy. "And people will probably laugh at it, but that's okay." She fell "so in love" with the script. "I had the feeling that it reminded me of all the films I loved as a child and teenager, and it felt fresh yet nostalgic at the same time. Everything I had read was so dark and depressing and made me feel small, and I just wanted to do something inspiring, funny, and light, and that was it for me."
