US Rapper Eminem ("Lose Yourself") lets fans know with a spooky video: With the words "OH SH*T!!!" and a skull emoji, he announces his new album "The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)" for July 12. He posted a video clip on social media featuring a scene reminiscent of a horror film.
In the video, a woman gives birth in a hospital while it storms and thunders outside. When the newborn baby opens its black eyes, it grins devilishly, sticking out a forked tongue, and horns sprout from its forehead.
Eminem had already announced the release of "The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)" for the summer at the end of April, without specifying a concrete date. Accompanying the post was a video in the style of a true crime show reporting on the death of Slim Shady, a character long considered his alter ego. His second, but first commercially successful album "The Slim Shady LP" (1999) is considered its birth.
At the end of May, the single "Houdini" was released. As to be expected from the controversial musician, the first single sparked extensive discussions. In the song, he takes leave of Slim Shady and uses the opportunity to unleash harsh words against music colleagues and the rest of the world in scathing text lines. However, his statements prove so enigmatic and contradictory that their true meaning often remains unclear.
