Eiffel Tower admissions now cost approximately 20% more than before.

In preparation for the Olympic Games in Paris, the Eiffel Tower's ticket prices are set to rise by approximately 20%, as announced by the company managing the iconic monument. This change will commence on June 17 and will see an adult's elevator ride to the summit costing 35.30 euros, up from its previous cost of 29.40 euros.

Similarly, the price to scale the second floor of the Eiffel Tower via stairs will escalate to 14.20 euros, previously 10 euros. The rationale behind the price hike is attributed to the significant financial losses sustained by the operating company throughout the coronavirus pandemic and the increasing expenses associated with maintaining the now 135-year-old structure.

In 2023, the Eiffel Tower welcomed a total of 6.3 million visitors, representing a 8% increase over the previous year, which was still shrouded in the pandemic's shadow. The Germans constitute the most significant group of Eiffel Tower visitors from other European nations. The lack of travelers resulted in the Eiffel Tower incurring over 100 million euros in losses during the period of the pandemic, a portion of which the city of Paris covered. Additionally, the operators bore extra costs when undertaking the 21st repainting of the tower; finding traces of toxic lead during the removal process. Regardless of the difficulties involved in painting a landmark as grandiose as the Eiffel Tower, it is a monumental endeavor. Approximately 60 tons of paint are required to adorn the structure.

Notwithstanding, the hiked ticket prices for the Eiffel Tower persist post the Olympic Games, scheduled to take place between July 26 and August 11. However, temporary price hikes in other areas of Paris are in place.
