In the Elbphilharmie - During the German European Championship draw, there were suddenly moans in the hall - Youtuber confesses to sex prank
Manchester star David Silva is briefly irritated and can't help but smile. As he draws Switzerland's European Championship Group A, thus completing the German hosts' group for the 2024 European Championship, an unexpected noise suddenly resounds through Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie concert hall. The same, very clearly sexual-sounding moaning can be heard over and over again - even in the live broadcasts on the TV stations. Now it's coming out: A British Youtuber is behind the moaning prank - and it's not the first time he's done it.
Daniel Jarvis, who goes by the name "Jarvo69", broadcast the prank live. "Can you hear that? That's us!" he cheered live on YouTube. The German broadcast of the undressing can be heard in the background; Jarvis said he was in a hotel in Hamburg. "We're the biggest pranksters in the world," he says happily, while he keeps making new groans in the room with his smartphone. But you can't hear them in his clip: The TV is simply set far too low.
From amused to annoyed
In fact, the noise repeatedly disturbed the broadcast for several minutes. "We have a few noises in the hall here," draw director Giorgi Marchetti remarked at the beginning. Then all the participants tried to ignore the disturbances. With varying degrees of success. Danish international Brian Laudrup had to visibly pull himself together several times as he drew Serbia for Group 3.
The numerous soccer celebrities in the stands can also be seen amused time and again. After a few minutes, however, the reaction changes. When the groaning noise, which lasts just under two seconds, is heard for the dozenth time, everyone starts to get annoyed.
Repetition disturber
The constant repetition already gave a clue as to how the moans got into the hall. Jarvis' transmission then confirmed it: he had set the moan as the ringtone of a cell phone and placed it in the hall beforehand. And simply called it again and again in his transmission.
This trick had already been successful before. Jarvis had also disturbed a BBC broadcast of a match between Wolverhampton and Liverpool in January with recorded moans. A cell phone glued to a seat was discovered afterwards. Jarvis himself has been causing distractions at sporting events for years, repeatedly running onto the field at soccer and rugby matches. After disrupting two cricket matches and even running over a player, he was jailed for eight weeks.
