During filming, actor "The Rock" sustains an injury.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson encountered an injury during his latest film, "The Smashing Machine." Belonging to an action sequence, Johnson's swollen elbow is on display for fans on Instagram.

"The Rock," aged 52, is currently capturing the big screen in his new movie "The Smashing Machine." As a former wrestler, Johnson has no qualms about letting it all hang out. Unfortunately for him, this played a part in an injury to his elbow, flaunted in front of followers on social media.

"Check this out," Johnson stated in a video shared on Instagram, presenting his massively-swollen right elbow. "It looks like I've got a melon down here. I took quite a hit in our scene today." While the extent of the harm isn't clear, Johnson presumes the ordeal could involve some soft tissue damage. "There's a lot of fluid built up. We'll see. The fluid needs to drain off before I can have any kind of MRI."

Johnson doesn't seem too bothered, though, recalling the words of his deceased wrestler father, Rocky Johnson: "He always said, 'A day without pain is like a day without sunshine, kid!'"

However, Johnson doesn't shy away from seeking support from online friends: "I've had bruises before, multiple injuries [...] but if you've got any suggestions for some good anti-inflammatory creams, let me know."

Directed by Benny Safdie, "The Smashing Machine" features Johnson as wrestler and MMA fighter Mark Kerr. A24, the movie's production company, considers this role his "most dramatic" yet, according to the publication "Variety." Next to Johnson, other stars include Emily Blunt, who teamed up with Ryan Gosling for the action comedy "The Fall Guy."
