The police are looking for unknown perpetrators who are believed to have stolen historical objects from the Dachau concentration camp memorial.

Bavaria - Dummy shower head and door bolt stolen from Dachau concentration camp memorial site

In the KZ-Memorial site in Bavarian Dachau, a shower head dummy and a doorknob were stolen. The objects were taken from the former gas chamber by yet unidentified perpetrators, the police in Ingolstadt announced on a Wednesday. The state protection has taken over the investigation.

The theft occurred in the so-called Barrack X, where a crematorium, disinfection chambers for clothing, living and sanitary rooms, and morgues, and a disguised gas chamber as a shower room were located.

The State Criminal Police Office for State Protection Crimes of the Kripo Fürstenfeldbruck asks witnesses who have observed something to contact the police under the phone number 08141-612-0.

The Concentration Camp Dachau was built by the NS-Regime in 1933 and existed for twelve years. More than 200,000 prisoners from over 40 nations were incarcerated there and in the external camps, at least 41,500 people died. The Memorial Site has existed since 1965.
