- Due to certain reasons, she decided to eliminate her Twitter account once more.
Jenna Ortega, renowned for her role in "Wednesday" on Netflix, is set to star in Tim Burton's (66 years old) upcoming film "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" in September. Ortega, an American actress aged 21, is making waves in the entertainment industry. During a conversation on the "Interview" podcast of the "New York Times", she shared some unsettling experiences she had on the social media platform previously known as Twitter.
Jenna Ortega encountered AI-produced, explicit content of herself
Ortega was urged to create a Twitter account at a young age to enhance her public image. However, at 14, she stumbled upon "altered content" of her younger self. When the interviewer suggested these might be "AI-generated, sexually explicit images", Ortega confirmed, "Absolutely, yes."
Moreover, Ortega disclosed receiving her first explicit message at 12, which contained an image of a man's genitals. She continued, "And that was just the tip of the iceberg."
"It was repulsive, and I felt uneasy. I felt uncomfortable," Ortega continued. These and other disturbing encounters led her to deactivate her Twitter account around two or three years ago. The release of "Wednesday" on Netflix only exacerbated the situation, as she was frequently bombarded with "bizarre images and photos."
"So I decided to delete it because I couldn't respond without being confronted with such content. One day, I woke up and thought: I no longer need this. So I terminated it."
The New York Times interviewer brought up the topic of Ortega's unpleasant experiences on Twitter, and Jenna Ortega confirmed that some of the explicit content she found was AI-generated. After several disturbing encounters, Ortega chose to deactivate her Twitter account due to being constantly bombarded with explicit content and bizarre images.
