Drew Barrymore's life thrives on having pets and she wouldn't want it any differently.

Drew Barrymore, in a chat with CNN, revealed that her preferred choice for a pet would be a corgi. "Corgi," she declared confidently.

The reason for her fondness for this particular breed? "My daughters and I are huge fans of their fluffy butts," she explained. "I can relate to their small legs, and they're just so stinking cute."

This beloved actress, producer, and talk show host has quite a menagerie at home: two dogs, four cats, a bearded dragon, a fish, and a snake named Cecil, with a hissing sound in "Cecil" to acknowledge the presence of a reptile. Her adoration for animals is evident, as she became teary-eyed when writing about her late dog, Flossie, in her memoir "Wildflower."

Following this passion for animals, Barrymore collaborated with Ring on a new campaign titled "Ring Pet Portraits" launched on Monday. The initiative encourages pet parents to contribute to animal shelter donations by sharing their favorite pet videos and pictures on Instagram or TikTok using the hashtag #RingPets by June 14th. Ring will then make a donation to support the ASPCA and local animal shelters throughout the United States.

As part of this campaign, Barrymore even filmed a commercial featuring her dog, Douglas, and a cameo by her bearded dragon, Jeremy. In the ad, she needs to convince her dog that she can't submit his photo because he's a "nepo puppy."

A couple of weeks ago, Barrymore lost her golden retriever, Lucy, which was an emotional experience for her. "Lucy was such a huge part of our lives," she said. "The whole team on my daytime talk show built a memorial wall dedicated to her. It was heartwarming to see everyone so affected."

When the pandemic began, Barrymore started her career in front of a camera, and her loyal companions were her constant companions. "I've been connected to animals since I was an infant," she recalled. "My first commercial was for a Purina puppy chow when I was just a toddler."

As a grownup and a mother of two young daughters, animals continue to play a significant role in her life. "There's a unique relationship you share with a pet," she explained. "It's the connection, the constant companionship, and the unconditional love. My dogs sleep with me in my bed, and so do my cats. It makes me feel like a whole human being."

"I'm strange about sharing my bed with friends," she added, "but with my kids and animals, I'm up for it."

Barrymore joked about the need for a Ring camera on set, as her golden retriever, Lucy, was a habitual wanderer during the filming of her daytime talk show. "We use cameras to monitor babies," she said. "I own way too many baby monitors. So yes, I can see how much sense that idea makes."

Although she adores her pets, Barrymore is not eager to add more to her family. "After losing Lucy, the kids asked if we could get another dog for Douglas," she shared. "I said, getting another dog for Douglas would be the end of me. I need some time before I'm ready."
