Did we inquire about readers' improved situations in 2024? Check out their responses.

CNN created their own quiz to inquire from readers if they are currently in a better situation with President Joe Biden or during the time of former President Donald Trump, both candidates set to go head to head in the upcoming November election. The quiz prompts individuals to assess their feelings of safety, happiness, freedom, and health, alongside their economic status, and share the causes.

Results gathered from over 10,000 responses showed that the majority felt more improved under Biden's leadership, while a considerable percentage reported no change in their personal circumstances. Reasons given were varied, ranging from their finances to their sense of security to their concerns about America's reputation.

A recurring concern was the belief that Trump's first presidency was marred by uncertainty and disorder. Participants expressed a lingering worry that Trump fuelled division, undermined democracy, and isolated allies. They conveyed feelings of calmness given Biden's leadership.

In addition, many respondents expressed concerns over rising prices, crime, and loss of personal liberties.

Four factors that significantly influenced numerous individuals' opinions are:

Robust markets and increasing incomes

Despite increased expenses, the stock market has thrived during Biden's tenure. The S&P 500 has surged over a third since his presidency began. Additionally, wages outpaced inflation since mid-2022.

A few respondents shared that they had more money due to the booming stock market and strong labor market.

Soaring inflation

Inflation has spiralled under Biden's administration, and while the rate has moderated, costs remain high. Surveys show that inflation is a significant worry for Americans.

Some quiz participants mentioned these feelings.

Sense of personal security

Numerous individuals stated that they don't feel as safe as they used to. Some pointed to an upsurge in crime (despite most nationwide crime rates declining in the previous year), while others argued that there's an escalation of hate and intolerance.

Here's what some had to say:

Abortion and LGBTQ rights

The Supreme Court's annulling of the federal constitutional right to abortion in 2023 had a significant influence on certain quiz takers' opinion. Trump appointed three of the justices and is credited with their decisions.

Other respondents were concerned that America had turned more hostile towards gay, lesbian, and transgender citizens.
