Kamala Harris as President - Did the Simpsons predict it?

The Comic series "The Simpsons" portrayed "Kamala Harris" as the US-President 24 years ago. A corresponding meme is currently going viral, following Joe Biden's (81) announcement on Sunday, July 25, that he will not seek re-election and endorsed Harris (59) as the Democratic Party's presidential candidate for the November elections.

Attentive users on social media platform X noticed the reference in the popular cartoon, as an episode from the year 2000 depicts Lisa Simpson in a pink dress similar to the one Harris wore during Biden's inauguration in 2021. The showrunner of the cult show, Al Jean (63), posted the political prophecy on his X account with the words: "The Simpsons' prophecy: I am proud to be part of it."

Coincidence or Prophecy?

A user summarized the meme as follows: "The Simpsons have done it again! Here's Lisa Simpson as the first female President of the United States from the 17th episode of the 11th season (in the year 2000), which talks about how the country broke after President Trump. And next to her, Kamala, wearing the same outfit."

During Joe Biden's inauguration on January 20, 2021, Harris was sworn in as the first woman and first Black person to hold the office of US Vice President, wearing a pink ensemble designed by Christopher John Rogers. She also wore shoes designed by Sergio Hudson and a pearl necklace by Wilfredo Rosado.

Not the only accurate prediction

In the episode "Bart to the Future," Lisa Simpson is elected as Trump's successor as US President in 30 years. The format had already predicted Trump as President in the year 2000. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2016, the television writer Dan Greaney explained how the accurate Trump prediction came about in the yellow animated series. "It was a warning to America," he said. The Trump presidency "was the last stop before the absolute bottom. We picked that up because it seemed in line with a vision of a completely collapsed America."

About the episode in question

In the episode "Bart to the Future," the Simpson family visits a casino owned by Native Americans, but Bart is too young at ten years old to enter. He then thinks about the future in 30 years: Lisa will be elected President - after Trump's tenure. Lisa emphasizes her role as President in the episode: "As you know, we inherited a significant budget deficit from President Trump."

The viral meme, inspired by the White House announcement, draws parallels between Kamala Harris wearing a pink dress in 'The Simpsons' 2000 episode and her attire during Joe Biden's inauguration. Al Jean, the showrunner, celebrated the 'Simpsons' prophecy on social media.

The 17th episode of 'The Simpsons' 11th season featured Kamala Harris as the first female US-President, following a corrupt President Trump's term. This prediction, reminiscent of Biden's perceived last-stop warning, has sparked widespread discussion.

Kamala Harris took the oath as the US Vice President in January 2021, wearing a standout pink outfit. The episode's format had earlier predicted the presidency of Donald Trump in 2000. Dan Greaney, the television writer, later explained that the series intended the Trump prediction as a 'warning to America'.

The 'Simpsons' episode depicts Lisa Simpson as Trump's successor as President in 30 years. Lisa emphasizes the significant budget deficit they inherited from 'President Trump'. The family then visits a Native American-owned casino, which Bart is too young to enter at ten years old.

The meme concludes, highlighting Lisa Simpson and Kamala Harris in the same pink attire, signifying the evolution of 'Presidency' from Trump to Harris, as predicted in the popular cartoon.
