Did Meghan accuse two people at court?
In a TV interview, Duchess Meghan made accusations of racism against a member of the royal family. A new book now states that the accusations are actually directed at two people in the royal household.
According to a tell-all book, Duchess Meghan is said to have accused two people at the British court of talking about the color of her son Archie's skin before he was born. At least that's what author Omid Scobie claims in his new book "Endgame", according to the British newspaper "The Sun".
The accusation itself is well known: 42-year-old Meghan and her husband Prince Harry had claimed in a 2021 TV interview with Oprah Winfrey that an unnamed member of the royal family had speculated about "how dark" Archie's skin would be before the birth of their son.
Omid Scobie now gets to the bottom of the allegations in his book, which will be published next week. Meghan is said to have written letters to the current King Charles and named two members of the royal household in them. These two would have taken part in the "conversations". However, the identity of the two is not revealed in the book. The author is worried about legal consequences, writes the Daily Mail.
Mockery of accusations of racism
Meghan's accusation of racism made waves, but also attracted ridicule. US comedian Chris Rock , for example, said in a stage show: "Some of the crap Meghan went through wasn't racism. It was just a bit of in-law crap." As for the baby's future skin color, Rock noted that this question had not only concerned white members of the British court. "Black people have asked themselves exactly the same question."
Omid Scobie, who used to be a confidant of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, sees "Endgame" not just as a book about Harry and Meghan, it's about the whole royal family, he wrote on X. According to the Daily Mail, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have distanced themselves from the book.
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan stepped down as high-ranking royals in 2020 and moved to the USA. They live in California with their two children Archie and Lilibet. In Harry's autobiography "Reserve", in interviews and in a Netflix documentary, the couple had sometimes lashed out violently against the royal family.
In response to the accusations made by Meghan Markle in her interview with Oprah Winfrey, author Omid Scobie reveals in his new book "Endgame" that the allegations of racism were directed towards not one, but two individuals within the British Royal Family. Furthermore, the book suggests that Meghan wrote letters to King Charles, naming these two individuals as being involved in the "conversations" about her son Archie's expected skin color before his birth.
