- DFB star and gold sailor separated
Lea Schüller (26) and Lara Vadlau (30) are no longer a couple. Vadlau confirmed the split of the sports stars in an interview with O3 on August 9th. The sailor, who won a gold medal together with Lukas Mähr (34) in Marseille on Thursday, stated: "Lea is no longer my partner."
Of course, she is very proud of her "and we are still very good friends and I wish her all the best." This refers to the fact that Schüller still has a chance to win bronze with the German football national team at the Olympics. The decisive match against Spain is scheduled for Friday (3 pm/ZDF).
The former couple often showed their relationship in public and shared Instagram snaps or clips with their fans. The posts are still visible on their profiles even after the split. Before the Olympics, Schüller had looked forward to participating together.
Sporting Achievements
The Austrian sailor Lara Vadlau from Carinthia is a multiple world and European champion in the 470 class. She has now won the gold medal in the 470 mixed event at the Olympics with Mähr. The duo thus secured Austria's first gold medal at these Games.
Lea Schüller has been under contract with FC Bayern Munich since July 2020 and has been playing for the German football national team since 2017. She missed the Olympic semi-final against the USA due to patellar tendon inflammation, but she is expected to return for the bronze medal match. The DFB announced on Friday: "Captain Alexandra Popp and striker Lea Schüller are back in the 18-player squad and will therefore both be available for the bronze medal match of the Olympic football tournament today."
Despite their split, Lara and Lea continued to share their achievements with their fans during the Olympics, often posting about their experiences on Instagram. Unfortunately, Lea had to miss the Olympic semi-final due to an injury, but she's back in the squad for the chance to win bronze with the German football team at the Olympic Games. The Olympic Games itself is a prestigious platform where Lea Schüller has also showcased her talent, playing for the German national team since 2017.
