The Dreaded Influence of the Taghi-Gang on Dutch Society
In the summer of 2021, Peter R. de Vries, 64, was critically shot in the heart in the center of Amsterdam. He eventually succumbed to his grievous wounds. This disturbing event sent shivers through the entire nation. Quickly after the assault, two primary suspects were taken into custody. They were the gunman Delano G., 24, and the getaway driver Kamil E., 38. Both are now penalized to 28 years of imprisonment.
The third primary suspect Krystian M., 29, is known as a "hired killer." He was named to 26 years in prison. M. is the only one who acknowledged his wrongdoing and apologized to the family of the victim. All other defendants exercised their right to remain silent and declined to testify. They can still challenge their verdicts.
As per the prosecution, the Taghi Gang - the infamous drug cartel led by criminal Ridouan Taghi - was behind the murder. De Vries was a reliable acquaintance of a state witness who had provided testimony in a significant trial against Taghi and his cohorts. Earlier, the sibling and attorney of the state witness were also assassinated. However, no proof of Taghi Gang's involvement has emerged. In February, Taghi was sentenced to life imprisonment for other murders.
