- "Destroyed on the ground" for cancelled show
For decades, the stage has been a massive part of the life of Rod Stewart (79). However, the British singer has had to suddenly cancel a special engagement due to an infection he caught. On social media, he hints at how much the cancellation has affected him.
In 2011, he made his debut in Las Vegas with "Rod Stewart: The Hits." He was supposed to celebrate the conclusion of his Las Vegas concerts with his 200th performance in the famous Colosseum of Caesars Palace on August 7, after around 13 years. However, this did not happen. In a statement on Instagram, he expressed his deep regret for missing the celebration.
Rod Stewart has been looking forward to this performance for a long time
Stewart writes that he has contracted streptococcal pharyngitis, a bacterial infection of the throat. Most people can work with this, "but not me," he explains the cancellation. The singer shares that he is "devastated" and has been looking forward to this concert for a long time. At the same time, he regrets causing any inconvenience to his fans. They express understanding in the comments and wish him a speedy recovery.
According to the Federal Ministry of Health, common symptoms of streptococcal pharyngitis include sore throat, swallowing difficulties, and fever. A doctor-confirmed infection is treated with an antibiotic. It is currently unknown how this illness will affect Stewart's upcoming performances. According to his website, several shows in the US are planned for the coming days.
Stewart's long-standing Vegas performances have not ended in disgrace. Although it was originally supposed to be his last show, just before his cancellation, the 79-year-old announced that he will return for an encore in the coming year. "Vegas, I'm having too much fun to let this end, so we're coming back for an encore," he wrote on Instagram. Additional shows are planned for March 12-22 and May 29-June 8.
Despite the cancellation, Rod Stewart expresses his excitement about potentially returning to Las Vegas for an encore, as mentioned in his Instagram post. Instagram is indeed a great place for Stewart to communicate with his fans and share his updates.
