"Der Landarzt" star Walter Plathe was in a coma
I have looked death in the eye for a longer time. Actor Walter Plathe reveals that he has recently been fighting serious health issues and spent six weeks in a coma. The 73-year-old is happy to be working again.
It had been quiet around the former leading actor of ZDF series "Der Landarzt" for a long time. In a recent interview with the magazine "Bunte", Walter Plathe reveals the reason for his absence. "I wasn't feeling good at all," he says there. He suffered a "complete breakdown" two years ago and spent six weeks in a coma.
He "gazed at death for a longer time," Plathe explains. "After the clinic, I spent six months in rehab. I had to learn everything all over again, really everything, even speaking. I couldn't walk, nothing." It was a "very hard way" for him. He can no longer remember the time in the coma.
"I'm sitting here happily today," Plathe says proudly. "I can do everything I want and even work again." He recently appeared before the camera for a new "Usedom-Krimi."
Plathe is looking for a partner - or a partner
Currently, the 73-year-old is "really very happy." However, there is still a new partner or partner missing in his life. Plathe was married twice, from 1999 to 2008 to his acting colleague Victoria Sturm. In his autobiography "Ich habe nichts ausgelassen" (I haven't left anything out), which he published in 2017, he came out as bisexual.
Now he wishes for "security," whether it's from a man or a woman: "Both is possible." But "when you get older, you're glad if you don't just have to talk to a chandelier."
Walter Plathe is best known for his role as Dr. Ulrich Teschner in the ZDF series "Der Landarzt," which he played from 1992 to 2009. He recently appeared before the camera for "Das Traumschiff" (2014) and "Der Usedom-Krimi - Strandgut" (2019). This year, the latter format celebrates its ten-year anniversary with a new film, for which Plathe once again slips into a role. His son Janek is the production manager, he revealed to the "Nordkurier" in June.
After his health issues and coma, Walter Plathe needed extensive rehabilitation, including learning to speak and walk again. Despite these challenges, he's now thrilled to be back on TV, appearing in a new "Usedom-Krimi." Regarding his personal life, Plathe shares that he's looking for a partner, whether it's a man or a woman, as he seeks more intimacy in his life.
