"Dawson's Creek" star Busy Philipps - Daughter's seizure in video chat

US actress Busy Philipps (44) recounted a dramatic moment as a mother in her podcast "Busy Phillipps Is Doing Her Best". Her 15-year-old daughter Birdie suffered a seizure at the weekend, which she had to witness live via Facetime. Her ex-husband, screenwriter and director Marc Silverstein (52), and father of her daughters Birdie and Cricket (11), received a call and immediately screamed for her. Afterwards, the phone showed frightening images:

"It's Birdie, it's Birdie! She's having a seizure. The paramedics are on the phone," her ex-partner wrote. They then had to watch together in a video chat as paramedics tended to their daughter. Birdie is currently in Sweden, where she is attending boarding school. Her daughter held out her hand towards the camera and called out to her: "Mom. Mommy. Mommy. Where are you? Mommy." It was shocking to witness it all: "It all felt so strange." Her daughter's companion filmed everything so that the "Dawson's Creek" star and Silverstein could watch the events live.

Busy Philipps: She's trying to organize a private plane to Sweden

It was "horrible" to see her daughter suffering on screen "in another country, on the other side of the ocean". Birdie has recently been struggling with irregular seizures. The first time the actress was on the set of her upcoming movie "Mean Girls - The Girls Club" when it happened: "I couldn't get away." However, her ex-husband Silverstein immediately went to school, where paramedics were already looking after their daughter.

Birdie was lucky during her latest seizure: according to Philipps, she was with her friend Sarah in a movie theater in Stockholm, just two minutes away from a clinic. Two other visitors to the movie theater had made themselves useful as first aiders and immediately got Birdie, who was convulsing, out of her chair and onto the floor. Another person immediately called the emergency services. Philipps is now trying to fly to her daughter in Sweden as quickly as possible. She is currently sounding out whether she can charter a private plane.

Busy Philipps married Marc Silverstein in June 2007, their first daughter Birdie was born around a year later, followed by their second daughter in 2013. In May 2022, after around 15 years of marriage, she and Silverstein announced that they had been separated for more than a year. However, they stated that they would continue to stay close and look after their children together. According to US media reports, however, the divorce has now been finalized.
