Date breaks up with Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish found out the hard way that love can be dangerous. She had a surprising encounter with a long-time acquaintance in December. "I couldn't believe it," the singer expressed her shock. Eilish had been grappling with the issue of being ghosted all along.
U.S. superstar and two-time Oscar winner, Eilish, revealed her experiences with ghosting in the BBC podcast "Miss Me?" with British singer Lily Allen and radio presenter Miquita Oliver. Ghosting, as the name suggests, refers to someone suddenly cutting off all contact without warning. The word comes from the English word 'ghost' and means the unannounced cessation of communication. No more calls or messages get through. "I went through some crazy ghosting. It happened in December," the singer recalls her experience.
She had made plans with a man she'd known for ages. They had agreed on a certain time, but he simply didn't show up for their rendezvous. From then on, he disappeared from her life without a trace. "I couldn't believe it," was her reaction. "I thought to myself, are you even alive? I mean, are you completely gone?"
Eilish later found out that the man was with another woman. "I can't stand cowards," she rued. "If I sense someone is being a coward, it just sends me into a fit of rage." Her fame had a toll on her, causing her to lose numerous friends, and made it difficult for her to build new friendships.
In fact, even celebrities are not spared from the ghosting phenomenon. Actress Drew Barrymore ("Three Angels for Charlie"), in an interview with People magazine in 2022, commented on her own experience with ghosting. "For all those out there who have been ghosted and feel like they've been burnt by a raging bushfire: I get it. It's so bewildering that one person can act like that," Eilish added to her statement.
