Daniel Brühl receives honorary award in the Czech Republic

Actor and director Daniel Brühl received an award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. In Czech Karlsbad (Karlovy Vary), he received the President's Award, an honorary award for his past work in the film industry.
The 46-year-old thanked in Czech, German, and English and expressed his deepest gratitude from the heart for the accolade. According to "The Hollywood Reporter" and the festival at X, Bruhl also gushed in his speech: "This is a wonderful prize, more beautiful than the Oscar." The audience responded with much applause and cheers.
"Helps with my Midlife Crisis"
As reported by "The Hollywood Reporter," Bruhl joked about the name of the award being "so big that it helps me with my midlife crisis." Receiving the President's Award from the hands of the President, who has led and been responsible for this wonderful city becoming a temple of cinema for the past 30 years, deeply moved him. With laughter and applause from the audience, the actor took a photo of himself on stage for his mother.
At the festival, Bruhl also presented his directorial debut "Nebenan." His second directorial project is already announced. Bruhl is directing a film about tennis player Gottfried von Cramm called "Break." The team behind the film, which won a total of four Oscars for "All Quiet on the Western Front" in 2023, is coming together again. Daniel Bruhl played the supporting role of Politician Matthias Erzberger in "All Quiet on the Western Front." Among others, "All Quiet on the Western Front" star Felix Kammerer takes on the lead role of Gottfried von Cramm in "Break."
Since early June, Daniel Bruhl has also been appearing as Karl Lagerfeld in the Disney+ series "Becoming Karl Lagerfeld." He is not averse to a second season, as he revealed in an interview with ntv.de. On the contrary: "The initial request was for me to commit to two seasons. I don't know yet if it will continue, but if it does, I had always planned in my head that we would then take this interesting journey to the figure I then came to know. That will be another beautiful acting challenge."
Daniel Bruhl's performance in "Becoming Karl Lagerfeld" has also gained him recognition in the Czech Republic. During the Czech Television Film Festival, he was praised for his acting and directing skills, receiving the prestigious Czech Lion Award.
