Dacia Logan II MCV - not much cheaper from second hand
The Dacia Logan II MCV was available as a new car until 2020; this multipurpose vehicle went down in history as a budget station wagon. Interested used car buyers should note: while depreciation is low, criticism during the main inspection is loud.
Spacious it is, the Logan MCV - although the last generation sold here did not find room for a large family. The third row of seats was removed. However, the "Auto Bild TÜV-Report 2024" finds its technical reliability to be a bigger flaw: "Well-intentioned is not always well-made." The model from the Romanian Renault subsidiary stumbles during the vehicle inspection (HU).
Model History
The second generation of the station wagon hit the market in 2013. The facelift was presented at the Paris Motor Show in 2016 with a new front end, interior changes, an optional reversing camera, and a new three-cylinder as the entry-level gasoline engine for the engine range. Dacia removed the MCV from the local market in 2020.
Body and Variants
Multi Capacity Vehicle - that's what the acronym MCV stands for, essentially a multipurpose vehicle. Dacia achieved this by giving the station wagon a relatively high roof, creating plenty of space inside. However, unlike the first generation introduced in 2006, the MCV II was not available as a seven-seater.
But the Romans introduced the MCV Stepway with increased ground clearance in 2016. The first generation of the Logan was still sold as a sedan, which was discontinued with the second generation. A van version was also available.
Dimensions (according to ADAC)
- 4.49 to 4.53 meters x 1.73 to 1.76 meters x 1.55 meters (L x W x H)
- Boot volume: 573 to 1518 liters
Strengths
Over 1500 liters of storage volume, that's a challenge for any station wagon to beat. And the technology? The suspension remains within acceptable limits until the second HU at five years of vehicle age, according to the report. Springs and dampers work solidly even into the high MCV age. The parking brake doesn't cause any problems, and the oil loss can be considered average. The turn signals prove to be durable.
Weaknesses
Otherwise, the defect rates for lighting start to rise from the first HU onwards. Particularly noticeable: adjusted low beam. The MCV already shows unreliable foot brake operation and shortcomings in the exhaust gas test at the first TÜV inspection. The balance of the brake discs could be better over the years.
From the second HU onwards, axle suspensions and steering systems have high complaint rates. The residual value is relatively good, so the used price is correspondingly high.
Breakdown Behavior
For cars from 2020, the ADAC cannot provide an assessment because too few examples have been registered to appear in the club's breakdown statistics. Cars from the first registration years 2014 to 2017 are located in the middle field, while MCVs from 2018 and 2019 perform better.
The breakdown hotspots include the starter battery in cars from 2015, the timing chain (2014 and 2017), the spark plugs (2014), and the ignition lock in cars from the first registration years 2015 and 2016.

Despite the lack of a seven-seater option in the second generation of the Dacia MCV II, other vehicles in its class might provide more seating options for larger families. Moreover, during the vehicle inspection, other multipurpose vehicles may show fewer technical reliability flaws compared to the Dacia Logan MCV II.
