Czech authorities dismantled a smuggling ring.
The Czech police have dismantled a suspected smuggling ring believed to have illegally transported over 2,000 migrants from Turkey to the Czech Republic. The anti-organized crime unit in Prague, known as the NCOZ, reported that 14 individuals have been apprehended. These suspects are being charged with facilitating illegal border crossings.
Some of the migrants were smuggled from the Czech Republic to other EU countries. The criminals netted a profit of more than two million euros from their illegal activities. The authorities confiscated significant cash, two vehicles, and a property during a series of raids. If found guilty, the alleged smugglers could potentially face up to 16 years behind bars.
