The costume designer from Cologne passed away unexpectedly last Monday (July 29) at the age of 70 from the consequences of "massive brain hemorrhages," Schanze revealed to the "Bild" newspaper.

In the afternoon, he found his girlfriend lifeless in their winter garden in Munich, he reported. The actor then called the emergency services, who tried for about an hour to revive the 70-year-old - to no avail. "The doctor said Uschi had no chance. The autopsy revealed massive brain hemorrhages," Schanze said.

His Sons Support Him

The former "1, 2 or 3" host's grief is great: "I'm currently in very rough waters." Now he has to take care of the funeral and the memorial service. He is receiving support from his sons, who come from his previous marriage, which ended in divorce in 2000.

He met Uschi 40 years ago on the set of his series "Telezirkus," where she worked as a costume designer. The couple became an item about ten years ago.
