Series star Lisa Kudrow - Coping with grief with old "Friends" episodes

On October 28, 2023, Matthew Perry (1969-2023), one of the popular stars of the legendary US-sitcom "Friends," which entertained a million audience between 1994 and 2004, passed away. The main cast, besides Perry, included Jennifer Aniston (55), Courteney Cox (60), Matt LeBlanc (56), David Schwimmer (57), and Lisa Kudrow (60). Their participation in the show granted them successful further careers. In an interview with "The Hollywood Reporter," Lisa Kudrow now shares how she remembers her late colleague and friend.

Seeing herself in "Friends" was embarrassing for Lisa Kudrow for years

For years, she had not been able to watch the old episodes of the series again, "because it's embarrassing to watch myself" - and she didn't want to risk her acting performance in the series not being well-received. But when it comes to Perry, "that's fine." After she had recently re-immersed herself in "Friends," she became aware of how funny the series actually was. "Sometimes I even laugh at what I did in it," says Kudrow. But it's still embarrassing. If someone comes into the room at home and catches her watching "Friends," it's not a good look.

"It's about celebrating how funny he was"

With her new "Friends" consumption, it's all about re-living the old times with Perry. "It's about celebrating how funny he was - and that's how I want to remember him," explains the actress. Behind the scenes, Perry was a mood-setter who always followed the motto "How many laughs can I get in real life every day?" When looking back on their time together, she looks back with both sadness and great joy: "We laughed so much that tears ran down our faces."
