Contemplating a Return to ESC: Joost Klein Expresses Possible Interest

At the Eurovision Song Contest this year, Dutch artist Joost Klein found himself in hot water. Amidst the chaos in Malmö, he was involved in a backstage altercation with a production crew member, leading to his sudden dismissal from the competition. Despite the controversy, Klein remains popular and hints at a potential return to Eurovision in 2025.

The Eurovision Song Contest in Malmoo was marked by a series of scandals, one of which involved the Dutch singer Joost Klein. The main incident, resulting in Klein's expulsion, had no political undertones. Rather, he is accused of threatening a staff member behind the scenes.

Klein's unexpected removal from the competition was an unusual turn of events in the Eurovision Song Contest's long history. The favorable reception of his humorous anthem "Europapa" made him a favorite in Malmoo, yet he was still disqualified. The legal details surrounding the incident are yet to be sorted out.

Regardless of the scandal, Klein's popularity seems unscathed. He received plenty of support from fans, who were unaware of the details of the altercation. "Europapa" topped the charts in various countries post-contest. At the Pinkpop Festival over the weekend, he was well-received, and during his performance, he even addressed the Eurovision scandal.

"Baring it all in Malmoo"

According to Dutch broadcaster NOS, Klein's show at Pinkpop lasted about an hour. Footage uploaded to YouTube captured him in his signature bright blue suit, reminiscent of what he wore during the Eurovision rehearsals before his removal.

As reported by NOS, Klein emotionally connected with the audience during the show. With teary eyes, he expressed his gratitude for the audience and his team's support. "Netherlands, I am speechless", Klein reportedly said.

Regarding the Eurovision Song Contest, the artist declared his innocence. "I have nothing more to say, I have given my heart and soul in Malmoo", so Klein to NOS, before he fell silent with another statement: "But do you know why not in 2025?"

"A fresh start in 2025?"

The possibility of Klein returning to Eurovision in 2025 is not far-fetched. During his performance, he unveiled a T-shirt bearing the message "Why not? 2025". He also hinted at a future endeavor, stating "That's not the end of the adventure."

Following his Pinkpop performance, Klein only added to the speculation. His Instagram profile now bears the caption "Eurovision 2025". It seems that a real reunion with him at the Eurovision Song Contest may be on the cards for 2025, assuming the Dutch choose to submit him once again.
