On a Wednesday, the musical group initiated their initial performance out of a series of four concerts at Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium. Joining them was vocalist Maggie Rogers, as they rendered an unplugged rendition of Swift's 2008 smash hit "Love Story."

Based on videos shared on social media platforms, Martin reportedly brought two ardent Swift enthusiasts onto the stage during their performance of the song.

Addressing the audience, Martin relayed, "We're singing this song with so much affection for Taylor and so much affection for the Swifties."

It seems that Coldplay became the first significant act to headline a concert at this Austrian venue since organizers decided to scrub three of Swift's Eras Tour concerts due to a foiled terror plot earlier this month.

Swift had planned to start the three-show series on August 9, but Austrian authorities disclosed they had foiled an ISIS-motivated scheme to target one of her shows there.

"The justification for the cancellations instilled in me a fresh wave of terror and an overwhelming sense of guilt because many individuals had looked forward to attending those shows," Swift penned in a declaration published on her Instagram account on Wednesday. "However, I was also immeasurably grateful to the authorities because they saved us from mourning lost concerts instead of lives."

Swift resumed her tour last week by staging a five-night extravaganza at London's Wembley Stadium, which culminated on Tuesday.

Regarding safety arrangements for audience members attending Coldplay's shows this week, Live Nation GSA issued a communiqué on X detailing the stadium's safety methodology.

"The welfare of all attendees, artists, and personnel is our foremost concern, and, as is customary, Ernst-Happel-Stadion collaborates with local authorities and partners prior to the concerts to ensure everyone's safety on the site," it read.

Coldplay is scheduled to deliver three more concerts in Vienna on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.

After sharing praise for Coldplay's performance, some fans also celebrated the unexpected appearance of Maggie Rogers, adding an extra layer of entertainment to the concert. The unexpected guests on stage during Martin's address, being dedicated Swift fans, added a heartfelt sentiment to the performance of "Love Story."
