Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie - Close ties through conversations about divorce

Film fans can look forward to a special duo: Angelina Jolie (48) and Halle Berry (57) will be seen together in "Maude v Maude". In an interview with "Variety", Berry described the film, which she will also produce with Jolie, as a mixture of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and "Mission: Impossible" with a comedic twist. The actress also spoke about her relationship with her co-star and revealed that she had experienced a "difficult start" with Jolie.

Berry did not want to reveal the reason for the initial difficulties, but stated that there was a "good story" behind it. The bumpy start will "benefit us in our time together on screen", Berry emphasized in an interview with "Variety", adding that she was excited to "work with another woman and write a story with our sensibility and from our point of view. It's impressive." She also explained why the two women were able to form a close bond after all: "We talked a lot about divorces and exes," said the actress. "That brought us together, let's put it that way."

Halle Berry was married from 2013 to 2016 to French actor Olivier Martinez (57), with whom she has a son, and previously to former baseball player David Justice (57) and R&B singer Eric Benét (56). Daughter Nahla (15) comes from her relationship with Gabriel Aubry (47). Berry is now in a relationship with Van Hunt (53). Angelina Jolie was married from 2014 to 2019 to Brad Pitt (59), with whom she has six children, and previously to Billy Bob Thornton (68; 2000-2003) and Jonny Lee Miller (51; 1996-2000).

Details on "Maude v Maude"

Back in April, "Deadline" reported on the film project, in which the two Hollywood actresses are working together for the first time. Roseanne Liang ("Shadow In The Cloud") is to direct the film, with the screenplay coming from "The Grinch" director Scott Mosier. "We plan to travel around the world," Berry explained in the "Variety" interview about the filming locations for "Maude v Maude". "Warner Bros. bought our script and for us it's about going to places that have never been shown on screen."

Halle Berry mentioned in an interview that her relationship with Angelina Jolie, her co-star in the film "Maude v Maude," had a "difficult start," but they eventually bonded over discussions about divorces and exes. Despite their initial struggles, Berry is excited to work with Jolie and create a story from a female perspective.

Despite their marital histories - Berry being divorced from Olivier Martinez, David Justice, Eric Benét, and having a child with Gabriel Aubry, and Jolie being divorced from Brad Pitt, Billy Bob Thornton, and Jonny Lee Miller - Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie found common ground in sharing experiences related to divorce.

In the "Maude v Maude" project, Berry and Jolie are working together for the first time, with the film reported on by "Deadline" in April. They plan to travel around the world to film in locations never shown on screen, according to Berry in a "Variety" interview.
