Cher needs two books for her memoirs
At 78 years old, Cher looks back on her life. Her life has been so moving that the singer is writing two books about it. In her memoirs, she wants to reveal "her true story in intimate details."
"The extraordinary life of Cher can only be told by Cher herself," announces the Dey Street Books publisher and revealed the cover of "Cher - The Memoir" on Instagram. The cover features a young Cher with a dramatic black-and-white eyeliner. The release date is mentioned as November 19.
A small addition under the book title makes Cher fans curious, as it reads "Part One," or "Part One: Part One." It appears that the now 78-year-old music icon has so much to tell that she has divided her memories into two books. Therefore, "Cher: The Memoir, Part Two" is expected to follow in 2025. "It's a life that's too big for a single book," writes "People" in the book announcement.
According to the US magazine, Cher's memoirs will show her as "the daughter, the sister, the wife, the lover, the mother, and the superstar."
The Hollywood Reporter reports that the singer and actress will finally tell "her true story in intimate details" after more than 70 years of fighting for a self-determined life. The book will describe in detail, with Cher's "signature honesty and humor," how this diamond in the rough became the groundbreaking superstar the world has known for over half a century, without a plan and with little self-confidence.
Cher talks about ex-husband Sonny
In the first part, it will be about "her extraordinary beginnings, from childhood to the encounter and marriage with Sonny Bono." In it, Cher will spill the beans about "the highly complicated relationship that made her world-famous but eventually drove her apart." With musician Sonny Bono, who died in 1998, Cher founded the duo Sonny and Cher and was married to him from 1964 to 1975.
Cher had already hinted at writing her memoirs in 2017. Last year, she mentioned in a conversation with the Hollywood Reporter that she was almost finished with her work.
Cher's upcoming memoir, "Cher: The Memoir, Part Two," set to release in 2025, promises a deeper dive into her life, sharing her journey as a pop music icon on Instagram. Her first book, "Cher - The Memoir," revealed in November 2023, will delve into her pop music roots and her relationship with ex-husband Sonny Bono, providing intimate details about their complicated partnership that propelled her to fame.
