Chappell Roan prefers facing imprisonment over carrying out the role she previously hoped to excel in.
Fortunately, the "Good Luck Babe!" singer has become one of the most thrilling and sought-after musicians in the contemporary music scene. Nevertheless, Roan revealed to Interview Magazine that her journey to music stardom might not have materialized if not for her initial desire to act.
"I first dabbled in music to break into acting," Roan disclosed to the magazine. "Then I shifted to Los Angeles, and I thought, 'Screw this!' The industry is downright terrifying, and it's entirely out of my grasp."
Roan further elaborated that despite getting ample training in acting, she finds it "the most nerve-wracking experience ever."
"I'd rather get slapped with a fine," she quipped humorously.
Conversing with "Saturday Night Live" star Bowen Yang for Interview Magazine's June issue, which hit the stands on Monday, Roan expressed her willingness to pursue acting roles if they align perfectly with her timeline.
Currently, however, Roan is preoccupied managing her explosive popularity as a pop sensation.
Her debut 2023 album, "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess," recently secured the No. 3 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart, alongside her track "Good Luck Babe!" holding a top-ten position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Roan's single "Feminomenon" gained significant traction on social media last month following its use in Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign post, while Roan delivered unprecedented audiences at various music festivals this summer.
"I never envisioned it to blow up this big," Roan confided to Yang. "Everything happening right now is simply the cherry on top."
