Olaf Scholz - Chancellor with a plaster on his chin for an appointment
Olaf Scholz (66, SPD) attended a meeting in Neuss on June 28 with a visible plaster on his face. The Federal Chancellor visited there the "International Police Cooperation Center" (IPCC) set up for the Home-EM.
The Reason for the Plaster
The plaster on Olaf Scholz's face was due to a simple mishap. According to media reports, Scholz cut himself while shaving. The plaster at the Chancellor's chin probably wasn't a big issue at the location.
Four of the stadiums for the Football European Championship 2024 are located in North Rhine-Westphalia, like Neuss. Before the Chancellor's visit, it was announced that Scholz would be welcomed by NRW's Interior Minister Herbert Reul (71, CDU) at IPCC. A tour and an inspection of IPCC's information center were planned.
"Successful EM games are not only about the teams, but also about those who ensure security. In the International Police Cooperation Center in Neuss, the federal and state governments, police officers from all over Germany, and from other countries work together," it is explained on the Federal Chancellor's account on the online platform X. The speech is about a "great achievement."
The Chancellor and the Eye Patch
In the past September, Scholz was also seen with a plaster and was not forgotten by many citizens. The "eye patch Chancellor" from the previous year was still a topic of conversation for Scholz. He tripped while jogging and had to wear a protective shield during meetings for a short period.
The small sports accident was taken humorously by the Federal Chancellor at that time. In response to a corresponding photo with an eye patch on his Instagram account, Scholz wrote: "Whoever caused the damage... I'm looking forward to the memes. Thanks for the good wishes, it looks worse than it is!"
