Madonna - Celebrating her life after illness

Madonna (65) looks back on her "miraculous recovery" one year after leaving the hospital. The singer had been suffering from a life-threatening infection and had to postpone her tour because of it.

"One year ago today, I came home from the hospital right after surviving a life-threatening illness. I could barely stand in my garden and hold a candle", she wrote on her Instagram on July 5, 2023, alongside photos of her celebrations for the American Independence Day the day before. "I have miraculously recovered and had an amazing year. Thank God. Life is beautiful!", she concluded.

Who is her companion?

The 65-year-old added several candid shots - some of which caused quite a stir. A few photos show the singer very familiar with an previously unknown young man. In a particularly sexy photo, he reaches for her breast. It only became known two months ago that Madonna and her boyfriend Josh Popper (31) had reportedly split up.

The Pop icon seems to be enjoying her second life to the fullest. In July 2023, she was discharged from the intensive care unit after being found unconscious in her New York City home. Her manager confirmed at the time that she had been suffering from a "serious bacterial infection".

"I hate disappointing people"

After returning home, Madonna thanked her fans for their "positive energy, prayers, and words of healing and encouragement". She was on the road to recovery, she wrote in an Instagram post on July 10, 2023. Her "Celebration" world tour, which was set to start on July 15 in Vancouver, had to be postponed with a heavy heart. "I didn't want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour. I also didn't want to leave the people who had worked tirelessly with me for months to create my show in the lurch. I hate disappointing people", she explained. Madonna began the tour then in October 2023 in London.
