German politician Roderich Kiesewetter from CDU was assaulted during a political campaign event in Aalen, located east of Stuttgart. Confirming the incident, the police stated that the man involved in the attack physically harmed Kiesewetter, but his injuries were minor. He did not require medical attention at the scene.
The assailant, known to the authorities, went unidentified after fleeing the area. The local paper "Schwäbische Post" first reported about the incident. The unnamed man is believed to be running for office as a local council candidate aligned with the Querdenker movement.
Kiesewetter, a security specialist for CDU, told "Schwäbische Post" that he was first subjected to verbal abuse before being provoked. He didn't recognize the person attacking him initially. When Kiesewetter attempted to stop him, the man vandalized their campaign stand. Upon trying to photograph the offender, he was hit and pushed onto a high bed, also receiving scratches. The police arrived shortly after, causing Kiesewetter to consider dropping charges if the culprit apologized.
