Caroline Beil reveals reason for failure of her marriage
They were together for nine years and married for five. Now Moderator Caroline Beil and her husband Philipp Sattler are separating. The relationship had "worn out" and was "quite stressful in the end", says Beil - and explains how it came about.
Around a month ago, the Moderator and actress Caroline Beil confirmed the end of her marriage. She met her 16 years younger husband, dentist Philipp Sattler, in 2014 at a Charity Golf Tournament in Brandenburg. The couple, who often appeared together on red carpets, got engaged at a Scottish castle in 2018. What ultimately led to the breakdown of their relationship and marriage, Beil revealed in the TV magazine "GALA" as reported by RTL.
Beil, who lives in Berlin with her two children, and Sattler, who is professionally active in the Ruhr area, had been in a long-distance relationship for over nine years. In response to "GALA" moderator Annika Lau's question about whether this was the ultimate cause of the relationship's demise, the moderator replied: "I think so, because the desire was always there for Philipp to open his practice in Berlin at some point, and that's not so easy to do."
Her husband "had to commute back and forth the whole time". And at some point, according to Beil, "the relationship wore down because of this factor". The spatial separation was "quite stressful", not least because the 57-year-old had become a single mother to two children. "And many people know that, then you start arguing, that wears you down", Beil continued in her interview. In the end, "the separation" stood.
Beil has a son, David Maria, from her relationship with actor Pete Dwojak. He was born in 2009. A year before her wedding to Sattler, in 2017, their common daughter Ava was born. At the time of her late pregnancy, Beil caused quite a stir and a massive media response. She was 50 years old at the time of the birth.
After sharing the news of their separation, Caroline Beil discussed the strain their long-distance relationship had on their celebrated union, particularly due to her husband's desire to expand his dental practice in Berlin.
