Caroline Beil and citizen Lars Dietrich in "Todesangst"

It's actually a successful evening for Caroline Beil and citizen Lars Dietrich in Worms. They are celebrating the premiere of their play "Rent a Friend" in the city. But the night turns into a nightmare for them: suddenly their hotel is on fire.

Caroline Beil and citizen Lars Dietrich are in for a scary time. The actress and the entertainer had been on stage for the play "Rent a Friend" in Worms on Tuesday. After the premiere, a fire broke out in the hotel where the two were staying. Beil and Dietrich had to be evacuated.

"We were scared to death," the two now report in an interview with the "Bild" newspaper. Beil explains that she went to bed in the cathedral hotel around midnight and was woken up by a "crazy bang" at around 2 am. She was on the second floor at the time. "After the bang of the fire, I looked out of the window of my room and saw that everything below us was on fire."

Dietrich, on the other hand, reveals that he "jumped out of the window onto a car on the second floor. I tried to get out through the stairwell with other guests. But nothing worked. The smoke was too thick. We were scared to death. Everyone was in a panic."

Torsten Münchow was also in the hotel

Despite the horror, she and her 50-year-old colleague "got away safely", while other people had to be ventilated, Beil continues. The 57-year-old is certain that if she had woken up just a few minutes later, "it would have been too late". She is "completely exhausted", but also "happy that we had such a guardian angel", says Beil.

According to RTL, actor Torsten Münchow was among those who had to leave the hotel in the middle of the night alongside Beil and Dietrich. According to the fire department, a total of 59 people were evacuated. In addition to the hotel, which is no longer habitable for the time being, other buildings were also filled with smoke. Several people suffered smoke inhalation.

The fire did not break out in the hotel itself, but in a neighboring cell phone repair store, from where it spread to adjacent buildings. The police are currently investigating the cause of the fire.

Despite the traumatic experience, Caroline Beil and citizen Lars Dietrich managed to find some semblance of entertainment amidst the misfortunes. They attended a concert in the city the following day, trying to distract themselves from the fires that had disrupted their night.

Unfortunately, the joy of the concert was short-lived as news of fires elsewhere in the city started spreading, reminding them of their own ordeal only a day prior.
