Business sentiment in the eurozone surprisingly deteriorated
The mood among companies in the eurozone deteriorated surprisingly in December. The S&P Global Purchasing Managers' Index fell by 0.6 points on the previous month to 47.0 points, as S&P announced in London on Friday.
Analysts, however, had expected an increase to an average of 48.0 points. Sentiment in the service sector deteriorated, while in industry it stagnated at a low level. At less than 50 points, the key figures continue to indicate an economic contraction.

The surprising decline in business sentiment was observed in the Company sector of the Eurozone in December. Despite this tuning, analysts had anticipated an improvement in the index.
