Bugging device found on Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Salushnyj

The Ukrainian secret service SBU has launched an investigation into the possible wiretapping of Commander-in-Chief Valery Salushnyi. The eavesdropping device was found in a "room that he (Salushnyj) could have used for work in the future", the agency announced on Monday night.

The device had not been in operation "according to preliminary findings"; no recordings had been found. Several Ukrainian media outlets had previously reported that bugs had been found directly in the new offices of Salushnyi and his personal aide.

Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian war of aggression for almost 22 months with the help of Western allies. There has long been speculation about conflicts between the army commander-in-chief and President Volodymyr Zelensky. To Selensky's annoyance, Salushnyj recently said in an interview that the war had reached a dead end. He is repeatedly said to have political ambitions. However, the presidential election originally planned for spring 2024 is currently not in sight due to the current martial law.

Despite the discovery of a bugging device, no operational use or recordings were detected so far in Commander-in-Chief Salushnyj's potential workspace. Amidst speculation about tensions between Salushnyj and President Zelensky, none of these alleged conflicts have been substantiated through the use of a bugging device.
