- Brooke Shields is taking steps to secure her daughters' futures.
Famous actress Brooke Shields confesses she's currently struggling with an empty nest life as her daughters have moved out for college. "I'm petrified," the 59-year-old admitted to U.S. magazine "People," her younger daughter having joined her older sister in their college lives. "Suddenly, they're not yours anymore," Shields continued. "When you understand they're self-reliant individuals, you get to know them all over again." The actress, known for "The Blue Lagoon," shares two daughters, 18 and 21, with her husband Chris Henchy.
On Monday, she revealed her feelings in an emotional Instagram video, expressing, "Both of my girls have left the nest." With tears in her eyes, Shields admitted, "It's not simple for mothers." Back in May, she had shared her difficulties with embracing a child-free life.
The 18-year-old Grier, who had departed, had a playful worry about her mother in the "People" interview. The 21-year-old Rowan, having experienced Shields' turmoil when she moved out the previous year, suggested keeping her busy with work to distract her. In jest, she suggested using this sole time to "rekindle the romance."
Children often bring joy and delight, but as Brooke Shields experiences, they can also leave an empty space in a mother's heart when they move out for college. Even her younger daughter, now sharing the college life with her older sister, acknowledges the change in their relationship, as they transition into becoming self-reliant individuals.
