Brits are shockingly in love with "new" Beatles song

The "new" Beatles song "Now and Then" was written back in the late 70s, but it is only now being released. And the enthusiasm, at least in the band's British homeland, knows no bounds: "Now and Then" is set to become the band's 18th number one hit.

Brits are shockingly in love with "new" Beatles song

The Beatles' "new" song, released a few days ago, is well on its way to the top of the British singles charts. The song "Now and Then", featuring the voice of John Lennon, was released last Thursday and entered the UK singles charts at number 42 - based on just ten hours of sales, according to the Official Charts Company. The Beatles song is expected to rise to the top of the new charts.

The new charts will be announced on Friday. Should "Now and Then" make it to number one, it would be the Fab Four's 18th number one hit - and their first in 54 years. In 1969, "The Ballad of John and Yoko" reached the top position in the British charts. However, the Beatles will not be able to break the record for the most number one hits in the UK with "Now and Then". Rock'n'roll legend Elvis Presley has already had 21 number one hits.

Ex-Beatle Lennon recorded "Now and Then" for Paul McCartney in his New York apartment at the end of the 70s. After his murder in December 1980, his widow Yoko Ono gave McCartney the demo cassette with Lennon's voice and piano accompaniment in 1994.

Two songs from the cassette were remixed and released by producer Jeff Lynne in the mid-1990s. However, the technology at the time was not sufficient to remove distracting background noise from "Now and Then" and extract the voice of the deceased in sufficient quality. This has now finally been achieved with the help of artificial intelligence.

Guitar recordings of George Harrison from 1995 were added to the original track. Last year, "Now and Then" was then completed in the studio in Los Angeles with Ringo Starr's drums, McCartney's piano and bass and the voices of the two living Beatles.

The renewed interest in The Beatles' music, as evidenced by the success of "Now and Then", underscores the enduring appeal of British entertainment legends in the realm of Music. With its fusion of John Lennon's vocals and new productions, "Now and Then" has the potential to break new records in the UK singles charts.
