Britney Spears posts photo with father
After all the years of guardianship, accusations and insults, this would be an astonishing development: Britney Spears actually seems to be getting closer to her father again. At least that's what her reaction after Jamie Spears had to have a leg amputated suggests.
It has only just been announced that Jamie Spears has lost a leg due to an infection. Shortly afterwards, his daughter Britney has now spoken out with two posts on Instagram. One post in particular, in which the singer shows old family photos, is particularly surprising.
Is this nostalgic look back possibly a sign that the 42-year-old wants to reconcile with her once much-hated father? The US portal "TMZ" certainly comes to this conclusion.
Most of the family photos from the past that Britney Spears has posted show her carrying her now teenage sons in her arms. In one picture, however, Jamie Spears can also be seen next to her, holding his grandson's lunch box and a juice box in his hands.
Britney Spears did not comment on the snapshots. What she wants to express with them can therefore only be guessed at. However, the singer seems to be getting closer to her family again after years of quarrels. For example, she celebrated her 42nd birthday with her mother and brother a few days ago.
And she is also dancing again
In the second Instagram post that Britney Spears posted after her father's operation, she was less emotional. Instead, she once again performed a little dance. In the video, the "Toxic" singer can be seen in a pink lace dress moving to Peggy Lee's 1958 hit "Fever". She explains: "Filmed last night, but my dress was too big."
On the same day, TMZ reported that Jamie Spears had had a leg amputated. After several operations, the doctors ultimately saw no other option but to remove the leg.
The 71-year-old had already been in hospital for weeks due to an infection in one of his legs. "He had five unsuccessful operations to contain the infection and the doctors decided the only solution was amputation," TMZ quoted an unnamed informant as saying. Even though the amputation took place a month ago, Jamie Spears is still "not doing well".
Britney Spears' father took over guardianship of his daughter in 2008. Over time, the singer increasingly resisted this measure and also fell out with her family. In November 2021, she finally won her years-long battle and the guardianship was terminated after 13 years.
