The autobiography "The Woman in Me" by Britney Spears** (42) was a bestseller last year. Now, Hollywood is set to bring the tumultuous life of the singer to the big screen as a biopic. Universal Pictures has secured the rights to the memoirs. American director Jon M. Chu (44, "Crazy Rich", "In the Heights") is on board, according to a statement. Nothing has been revealed about the casting of the lead role yet.

Spears expressed her excitement on Thursday (local time) on the platform X, saying she had been working on a "secret project" with producer Marc Platt. She praised him for making her favorite films.

Platt, who has produced film hits like "Legally Blonde" and "La La Land", is reportedly on board as producer for the Spears film, according to "Variety" and "Hollywood Reporter". He is also producing the film musical "Wicked", directed by Chu, which is set to release in November.

In her book "The Woman in Me", Spears poured out her emotional journey, writing about her highs, lows, and breakdowns. She also didn't hold back in criticizing her father, former lovers, paparazzi, and the media.

Spears, who has been awarded multiple platinum albums and Grammy Awards, is one of the most successful artists in music history. In 2008, her father took over conservatorship of the musician after she had a mental breakdown due to personal and professional issues. In mid-November 2021, the singer was finally freed from the conservatorship after a long legal battle.

Spears mentioned working on a "secret project" with producer Marc Platt, who is known for his work in both Hollywood and music films. The music industry eagerly awaits the biopic about Spears' life, given her influential role in music history.
