Breakdown at "Masked Singer" - celebrity accidentally unmasked
The next mask falls: model Eva Padberg reveals herself on "The Masked Singer". She is the one in the fire extinguisher costume. Meanwhile, a glitch with the wind machines causes quite a stir.
The second edition of the current ninth season of "The Masked Singer" aired on ProSieben on Sunday evening. After a mega mishap including a near unmasking of the Kiwi bird, the fire extinguisher had to unmask itself at the end of the show. Underneath it was model Eva Padberg.
The jury was already on the right track after the appearance of the fire extinguisher, who sang "I Love It" by Icona Pop on stage. The fact that the red XXL costume could be a model was thrown into the round by guest judge Heiner Lauterbach. The actor sensed the model qualities: "Nadja Auermann, Eva Padberg. I know them both, but I don't know how they sing. She must almost be a model with her height."
"You're very tall for a woman!"
Alvaro Soler hadn't missed the height either: "You're very tall for a woman!" The singer wondered whether Stefanie Giesinger could be under the mask. Ruth Moschner mentioned other names, including Lena Gercke and Sonya Kraus. Most viewers had guessed comedian Tahnee or presenter Jana Ina Zarrella in the ranking.
In the end, Lauterbach was right. After her unmasking, Padberg explained that she had had a lot of fun with the project: "It's like being in a toy store here." The only thing she found extremely difficult was hiding it from her relatives: "You feel bad. I feel sorry."
The Kiwi briefly lost his head
Even before Padberg's performance, there was a mishap live on stage that caused quite a stir. The Kiwi gave his performance to Patrick Swayze's hit "She's Like the Wind". In keeping with the song title, wind machines provided a good breeze on stage - which suddenly blew the Kiwi's headboard off.
However, as the celebrity underneath could only be seen for about a second, it was not entirely clear who it could be during the live show. Lauterbach had a guess: "I would say it's Uwe Ochsenknecht."
This guess was shared by most fans, who promptly started a discussion including screenshots on social media after the mishap. However, the broadcaster has not yet cleared this up and left the bird in the competition.
The surprise reveal of Eva Padberg as the fire extinguisher on "The Masked Singer" was a highlight of the latest episode, but an unexpected issue with the wind machines caused chaos earlier in the show. TheVTpresenter's headpiece was blown off, momentarily unveiling the celebrity, sparking speculations among viewers and the jury about the true identity beneath the mask.
