Brad Pitt's daughter renounces her name publicly
Shiloh Jolie-Pitt to reportedly drop several siblings' last name of her famous father. She now reportedly makes this known through an announcement in the "Los Angeles Times". An important step before the court grants approval for the name change.
Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, is reportedly sticking to her plan to drop Pitt from her last name. The 18-year-old has now, according to "TMZ", published an announcement in the "Los Angeles Times" to indicate that she no longer wishes to be known as Pitt.
According to California law, as reported by US media, a person is required to file a petition in the classified section of a widely circulated newspaper. This is a standard procedure before the court gives its green light for a name change, writes "TMZ". The celebrity's daughter is reportedly seeking to change Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.
It was already known in May that Shiloh intended to officially remove her father's last name from her own. "TMZ" reported at the time of a corresponding name change application. She reportedly filed this on her 18th birthday. On her private Instagram profile, she had already referred to herself as Shi Jolie before. The 18-year-old is active as a dancer and reportedly wants to be creative without the protection of her famous parents. However, she performs under her mother's name.
Brad Pitt is reportedly still embroiled in a divorce proceedings with ex-wife Angelina Jolie. A source close to the matter told "People" magazine in early June that Pitt was "informed and upset" about Shiloh's name change petition.
Pitt and Jolie have a total of six common children: Maddox, Zahara, and Pax were adopted by the two. Shiloh and the twins Knox and Vivienne are their biological children. Jolie and Pitt met each other during the filming of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" in 2005. After their engagement in 2012, the pair married in 2014 in France. Angelina Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016. To this day, there are legal disputes, for example, over a formerly shared vineyard in the south of France.
Following her intention announced in May, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, now 18, has officially submitted a petition to change her last name in the classified section of the "Los Angeles Times," as required by California law, according to various media outlets. This move comes amidst ongoing divorce proceedings between her parents, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who have been embroiled in legal disputes since her mother filed for divorce in 2016.
