Billy Ray Cyrus divorced after the War of the Roses
The marriage of musician couple Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose is over. On August 5, Miley Cyrus' father was officially divorced. This followed a very public mudslinging match.
American singer Billy Ray Cyrus and his second wife Firerose have divorced just ten months after their wedding. According to US website "TMZ", the court in Tennessee finalized the end of the tumultuous marriage on Monday. In May, Miley Cyrus' father had filed for divorce, and the couple then made serious accusations against each other in public.
The ugly divorce is now final. The "Achy Breaky Heart" singer and Firerose - born Johanna Rose Hodges - have signed the relevant documents in Tennessee. It is reported that they reached an agreement in mediation on Friday. Firerose is not set to receive any money from her ex, according to "Page Six". However, Cyrus is reportedly giving up his claims to royalties for songs that the former couple wrote and released together.
According to the site, Firerose changed her last name to Cyrus after the wedding, which apparently made Billy Ray Cyrus suspect that she only married him for that reason. "This is the craziest scam I've ever heard of," Cyrus ranted during the public spat. "Not to mention the fact that I was right in the middle of it and was basically the target of the plan." He also accused Firerose of defrauding him of around 90,500 euros by making unauthorized payments with his credit card.
She, on the other hand, claimed that she had access to several of his credit cards since 2022 and never had a limit. She accused her ex of having "unpredictable and unstable" behavior that amounts to "extreme verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse". The singer claimed that Cyrus' behavior was influenced by his "continuous drug use, combined with marijuana use".
He, in turn, claimed that it was actually Firerose who abused and threatened him, saying she would ruin his career if he divorced her.
Cyrus wanted the marriage annulled
Miley Cyrus' father and Firerose have known each other for 14 years and met on the set of "Hannah Montana". In 2021, they started making music together, which developed into love. They got engaged in August 2022 and married in October 2023. In May 2024, he filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct. He also requested an annulment of the marriage on the grounds of fraud.
Cyrus was previously married twice - from 1986 to 1991 to Cindy Smith, and then for 28 years to Tish Cyrus, with whom he has three children, including Miley. He also adopted her two children from a previous marriage.
The divorce between Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose, his second wife, was finalized in the United States. Following the divorce, Billy Ray Cyrus is no longer entitled to royalties for songs he and Firerose wrote and released together.
During the public mudslinging match, Billy Ray Cyrus accused Firerose of marrying him solely for his surname and defrauding him of money.
