Billie Eilish criticizes US magazine
In November, an interview with Billie Eilish appears in "Vogue". Now the singer accuses the makers of having unintentionally outed her in it. Although the 21-year-old has no problem with her sexuality, she doesn't understand why it is an issue at all.
Singer Billie Eilish has accused the US entertainment magazine "Variety" of having outed her. In the interview she is referring to, which was published on November 13, the "Bad Guy" singer hinted that she was attracted to women. She told the magazine, "I never really felt like I could have a good relationship with girls. I love them so much. I love them as people. I'm attracted to them as people. I'm really attracted to them."
In another "Variety" interview on the red carpet last Saturday, the artist was then asked explicitly about her sexual orientation. The 21-year-old Eilish replied, "I didn't realize people didn't know. Why can't we just be? I've been doing this for a long time and I just haven't talked about it." She said she read the article herself and thought to herself, "Oh, I think I had my coming out today." It was exciting for her and also "cool" that people knew this now.
"Likes boys and girls"
However, Billie Eilish apparently doesn't really like the public discussion of her sexuality after all. In an Instagram post, the musician, who says she doesn't believe in the concept of "coming out", expressed her frustration.
"Thank you 'Variety' for my award and also for outing me on a red carpet at 11am instead of talking about anything else that matters - I like boys and girls - leave me alone with this, please really, who cares?", reads the post, which she illustrated with a pair of dropped pants and a belt with two women as a buckle, among other things.
At the "Variety" ceremony, Eilish and her brother Finneas accepted the award for Movie Song of the Year for "What Was I Made For" from "Barbie".
