Los Angeles - Bill Kaulitz' luxury villa is uninhabitable due to water damage - smells like a swamp

Bill Kaulitz' Villa in the Hollywood Hills is a central feature in the Netflix series of the two Tokio Hotel twins. While Tom Kaulitz kept his private life with wife Heidi Klum less open, Bill Kaulitz had no problem filming in his Villa.

He is proud of the piece in the Hills designed by the son of the most famous architect of the 20th century, Frank Lloyd Wright. Lloyd Wright Jr. designed it once for the actor Daniel De Jonghe. Since 2019, the Midcentury-Villa has been owned by the Tokio-Hotel Singer. He bought the property for 2.5 million dollars in 2019.

Bill Kaulitz: His House in Los Angeles was under water

And today? It's almost under water. At least almost. As the twins recount in their podcast, a "water damage" incident caused a "disaster" in the house. They returned to L.A. from Europe "befluenced" and Tom Kaulitz was warned by their shared assistant. "Water masses from Bill's house were coming towards us," he says in the podcast. Their shared studio, which they showed in their Netflix docu-series, was also affected.

Tom spent the whole day removing things from the studio. "I was occupied all day with removing things from the studio. I had packed the whole house with things, guitars – everything that could be saved," he says in the podcast. "We don't know how long the water had been in there, probably for days. Everything had started to rust, everything was wet, it smelled like a swamp in there. It was a disaster," says the guitarist of Tokio Hotel. Some things of sentimental value were completely destroyed, he reports.

For his brother Bill, the situation is a little more serious. After all, the house is not only their shared recording studio, but Bill's residence. "My assistant told me: 'Bill, you can't go back to your house for the next half year'", he says in the conversation with his brother. "I can't even look at it. I don't even want to go back," says Bill Kaulitz. The cause of the damage and the duration of the repairs still needs to be determined.

Despite the water damage incident causing a catastrophe in their shared studio, Netflix continued to showcase the twin's Villa in their docu-series. Tom Kaulitz, the guitarist of Tokio Hotel, spent an entire day removing items from the affected studio, with many of his belongings, including guitars, getting ruined. Conversely, Bill Kaulitz's residence and recording studio faced more substantial damage, leading to his assistant advising him not to return for several months. Due to the water damage, Frank Lloyd Wright's Midcentury-Villa, which Bill Kaulitz purchased in 2019, is currently in a state of disarray in Los Angeles, reminding us of the potential consequences of such catastrophes.
