Biden claims Trump threatens democracy.

In response to Donald Trump's historic conviction during the hush money trial, President Joe Biden labeled him a threat to democracy. The former president and potential Republican nominee is a danger to our democratic system, according to Biden, who posted these sentiments on his personal X account. "He challenges our electoral system, our judicial system, and now is your chance to stop him," he wrote and requested financial support for his campaign.

For the first time in US history, a former president was found guilty in a criminal trial on Thursday. Jurors determined that Trump, aged 77, was responsible for all 34 counts of the hush money case. The sentencing will be announced on July 11.

Trump has dismissed the proceedings as "ultra-unfair." "You've seen what's happened to people on our side - they've been severely persecuted," the right-wing populist remarked during a speech in New York, where he called Biden and his associates "sick" and "fascists."

The White House issued a statement following the verdict, expressing respect for the rule of law. Biden has generally shied away from commenting on Trump's legal difficulties, as he doesn't want to give his opponent the impression that the proceedings are politically motivated.

Despite the verdict, Trump still faces charges in three other cases. Two of these involve his attempts to subvert his 2020 election loss to Biden, while the third concerns the removal of classified government documents from his private residence in Florida. The timeline for these trials remains uncertain.
