Biden aims to promote a two-state resolution.

During his speech at the University of Georgia, President Biden addressed the recent pro-Palestinian demonstrations at US universities with understanding, acknowledging their concern as one of the "most difficult and complicated problems in the world."

Addressing the graduating class at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Biden sympathized with the demonstrators, stating, "I want to make this very clear: I support peaceful, non-violent protest. Your voices must be heard. I promise you that I will hear them." These sentiments resounded through the event, reflecting the heartbreak felt over the ongoing conflict in Gaza and Israel.

The President urged an immediate ceasefire to end the violence and bring home the hostages taken during the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7. He pledged his administration's efforts to provide more assistance to the people of Gaza and foster reconciliation in the region.

Biden vocalized his commitment to resolving the Middle East crisis by achieving a two-state solution, emphasizing the need for perseverance and action, even amidst emotional turmoil. "Leadership means 'fighting through the most stubborn problems'. It means overcoming anger, frustration and pain and doing what you think is right, even if you're alone."

Morehouse College, established in 1867, is a male-only private institution known for enrolling many black students. Black civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. and director/actor Spike Lee are among its esteemed alumni. Biden visited Georgia to garner support from black voters, and in his speech, he elaborated on his government's efforts to serve the black community.

The anticipation surrounding Biden's speech at the university rose due to recent protests against Israel's actions in the Gaza war at several US campuses. Students and alumni of Morehouse College urged the college to retract Biden's invitation, citing his Middle East policy. While protests were absent at the event, some attendees donned Palestinian scarves, and others turned their backs to the President during his address.

At the University of Georgia, President Biden demonstrated his understanding of the pro-Palestinian movement, pledging to tackle the complex Middle East situation and bring about peace.
