Cult film series - "Beverly Hills Cop" returns: Eddie Murphy plays the chaotic detective once again
Around three decades after the last film in the "Beverly Hills Cop" series, Eddie Murphy (62) is returning to the screens as cult detective Axel Foley. In summer 2024, the Hollywood star will be seen on Netflix in "Bevely Hills Cop: Axel F". The streaming service has now released a first trailer. The clip shows that Murphy will apparently be causing plenty of chaos once again.
"Axel Foley is back", says the trailer - in familiar style. Film fans can once again expect all kinds of action scenes between car chases, shootouts and snappy remarks. "Please tell me you haven't been arrested again", the detective is told on the phone as he races through the area in a truck. His dry reply: "Twice, but I escaped."
Chaos cop Eddie Murphy solves new case
The fourth part of the series was released around 30 years after"Beverly Hills Cop III" (1994). Ten years earlier, Murphy was first seen on the big screen as Axel Foley in "Beverly Hills Cop - I'll solve this case no matter what". In the new action comedy, he has to deal with a conspiracy, according to Netflix. When the life of Foley's daughter (Taylour Paige, 33) is at stake, he teams up with her, his new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, 42) and his old friends John Taggart (John Ashton, 75) and Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold, 66).
An old acquaintance is also on board as producer, who has more than enough action experience and also took on this role in the first two parts: Jerry Bruckheimer (80). Meanwhile, the director is Mark Molloy, who has not yet made a big name for himself in the dream factory.
