Berry and Jolie friends thanks to ex-husbands
Real friends are probably rare in Hollywood. At least if you share Angelina Jolie's view of the dream factory. So it's all the better that she has found a good friend in Halle Berry, even if the start was "bumpy" according to Berry.
Oscar-winner Halle Berry says she became friends with fellow actress Angelina Jolie during conversations about broken relationships. "We had a bumpy start, and I think that will benefit us in our time together on screen," Berry told the industry magazine "Variety" about working with Jolie on the action film "Maude v Maude".
"We talked a lot about divorces and exes," Berry continued. "We became friends, let's put it that way." The 57-year-old described Jolie, who is nine years younger and also worked behind the camera as a producer on their first film together, "Maude v Maude", as impressive.
Both were in a war of the roses
The two Hollywood actresses have been in court over the past decade due to disputes with their ex-partners. Berry only reached an agreement in her divorce dispute with the father of her now ten-year-old son in August, almost eight years after her marriage ended. Jolie, on the other hand, has been involved in a bitter custody battle with the father of their six children since her split from Hollywood star Brad Pitt in 2016.
Angelina Jolie is certainly also happy about this special Hollywood friendship, as the 48-year-old doesn't really think much of the so-called dream factory and its people, as she recently explained in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. She is even considering turning her back on Los Angeles because she lacks "a social life" there. According to the mother of six and ex-wife of Brad Pitt, there are always paparazzi lurking when she leaves her house.
Angelina Jolie last played the role of the warrior Thena in Marvel's "Eternals" in 2021. She is currently in front of the camera in Paris for a biopic about opera singer Maria Callas, in which she plays the lead role. According to initial media reports, "Maude v Maude" is an action film and is set to be released in cinemas next year.

Despite their turbulent pasts with ex-husbands, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's divorces led Angelina to form a close friendship with Halle Berry, who shared similar experiences. Berry praised Jolie's impressiveness as both an actress and a producer on their film "Maude v Maude."
Their bond was strengthened by their open discussions about divorces and ex-partners. Berry even described their friendship as a benefit for their upcoming cinematic collaboration.
Jolie, who has been critical of Hollywood and its celebrities, found comfort in Berry's company, given the challenges of maintaining a social life in the limelight in Los Angeles. Paparazzi were a constant presence for Jolie, even outside her home.
