Actor Alfio De Benedictis, who became famous for his role as car mechanic Fabrizio in the reality daily soap "Berlin - Tag & Nacht", has died. The broadcaster RTLZWEI confirmed this via Instagram and bid farewell to the 52-year-old with touching words.
In the role of Fabrizio, Alfio De Benedictis was a regular cast member of "Berlin - Tag & Nacht" for many years. "It was with great shock that we learned of the death of our long-time companion Alfio De Benedictis," reads the official RTLZWEI Instagram post. "Alfio played the role of Fabrizio on "Berlin - Tag & Nacht" for many years and will be remembered above all for his good humor and warm nature," it continues.
Summer house contestant Pia Tillmann, who was in front of the camera with De Benedictis on "Berlin - Tag & Nacht", expressed her sadness at the news on her Instagram channel. In her post, she also hints at a possible cause of death. "I'm shocked and saddened, but it was only a matter of time before this information came out. Even though your heart was big, it didn't always work smoothly in our early days on BTN," the actress writes in the black and white photo showing her together with her deceased colleague. "Thank you for unforgettable moments and years. For an incredible amount of fun, good times and shared tears! I hope you are doing well, wherever you are now," Tillmann continued.
De Benedictis had been part of the cast of "Berlin - Day and Night" since 2011. He left the production six years later, but returned in 2020. He has also made smaller appearances in other formats over the course of his television career.
