"Bennifer's" divorce is supposed to be almost over.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's relationship has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions. After their first split in 2004, they reunited in 2021 and tied the knot. However, their marriage seems to be coming to an end, with divorce papers already signed.

The fairytale romance between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck appears to have reached its final chapter. The couple, who had resurfaced as "Bennifer" after their 2022 wedding, are reported to have signed divorce papers, according to the Daily Mail, citing unnamed sources from the stars' circles. The documents only need to be filed, but they are waiting for the "right moment."

"At that point, they will release a joint statement explaining how much they love each other and how they fought to make it work, but it didn't," the tabloid quotes the sources further. "Honestly, in the end, they couldn't agree on a compromise. What they once had is gone, and they both accept it."

The decision is not surprising. Lopez and Affleck have been spotted together less frequently in the past six months, and more often without their wedding rings. Their last joint photo dates back to March 30. In May, an insider told Page Six that the "Batman" star regretted his marriage to the singer. "If there was a way to get a divorce for temporary insanity, he would do it," the source said. "He feels like the last two years were just a fever dream, and now he's come to his senses and realizes that it just won't work."

Hope dies last

Since then, they have spent the entire summer apart, with the singer mainly on the East Coast - including with her still-husband's children - and the Hollywood star in Los Angeles. Previously, JLo had canceled her tour, citing the need for time for herself and her family. "She put her whole heart into her love story with Ben and won't give it up without a fight," the Daily Mail quoted a friend of the singer at the time. "According to what I've heard, there's still a lot of love, so there must be hope."

However, this hope seems to have died with the planned sale of their $68 million Beverly Hills mansion, which they had only moved into in May 2023. It has been officially listed for sale on Zillow since early July. They didn't even spend their second wedding anniversary together on July 16. Affleck also didn't make an appearance at Lopez's birthday on July 24, but he did close the deal on his new $20 million villa the next day. Friends of the singer described this move as a "stab in the heart" to the Daily Mail.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were already a couple in the early 2000s, but they split in 2004 after their engagement in November 2002. They became "Bennifer" again in 2021, got engaged in April 2022, married in a secret ceremony in Las Vegas, and had another wedding ceremony with friends and family in Georgia.

Despite their attempts to salvage their relationship, all of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's efforts seem to have been in vain. As reported, they have decided to move forward with their divorce, following weeks of separation and signs of growing disagreements.
